The Circle Way Stories: October Online Fundraising Event

The Circle Way non-profit relies on donations to continue our work: providing grants for new initiatives and projects grounded in circle, grants for individuals to attend circle trainings, as well as free circle resources, materials and more.

Join us at this special online storytelling event as we launch our fall / winter fundraising campaign (spring / summer for those in the southern hemisphere). We’ll listen to this powerful story about circle practice that invites us into collective learning, witnessing and celebrating.

Tecca Thompson will share the story of Safe Space Circle, an eight-week program for children ages 9 to 13 that grew out of a meeting with community crisis responders who were concerned about dynamics that were negatively impacting the children living in their housing complex. The goal of Safe Space Circle is for children to feel supported and protected and to introduce a model to the children and families that promoted skills to communicate and engage without violence, using various circle modalities.

“We believe places shape identity, imagination, and understanding. We have designed our Safe Space Circle to be highly interactive and exploratory. We have scheduled day trips to local urban farms and other nature excursions. Although we will use a traditional circle framework to encourage time for pause, reflection, and learning, we will also introduce the children to a collective facilitation experience via guest facilitators with rich cultural relevancy. The Circle will also include family engagement activities.” ~ Tecca Thompson
