Based on 20+ years of teaching and learning, Ann and Christina have written many resource books, articles, and pamphlets, including the 1998 groundbreaker, Calling the Circle, the First and Future Culture, and their legacy book The Circle Way: A Leader in Every Chair. Much of the content of this website is adapted from this recent book.

In 1991, Christina Baldwin and Ann Linnea were two of those people who began their return to the circle. First sitting together in a writing retreat circle convened by Christina, they soon recognized that what they were doing was more significant than simply rearranging the chairs. Both had been inviting people into circle (at writing workshops and wilderness adventures) for many years and had a growing awareness that the use of the circle was creating a different kind of experience for both teachers and participants. Teaching from within the rim had a profound impact on the depth of learning. The circle transformed groups of people into participatory learners and leaders.

People participated in ways that surprised them. They heard themselves speak wisdom, make commitments, and understand ideas or issues at a synergistic level. Out of that realization, emerged Christina’s first book on circle, Calling the Circle: The First and Future Culture.

Christina and Ann formed a small educational company that they called PeerSpirit, Inc. to carry forward their belief that the circle was needed in mainstream culture. They began training people in circle process and learning together many of the deeper insights and practices that later appeared in the book they co-authored, The Circle Way: A Leader in Every Chair.

Christina Baldwin + Ann Linnea

Thousands of people were trained by Ann and Christina in The Circle Way. They had traveled around the world offering workshops and consulting with organizations and communities who want to adopt The Circle Way practices

Ann and Christina have shifted into the role of elders. They serve as mentors and guides to those people who have fully embraced the practice and now offer training on their own. This website emerged out of that transition. It is a place where the next generation of practitioners and trainers are gathering to offer their wisdom and understanding of circle into the world.
